Objective:
 Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a faculty position in food animal medicine and surgery. This appointment can be tenure-track or non-tenure-track, depending on the goals of the applicant. This is a full-time position. The successful candidate will be part of a 4-person team involved in delivering the food animal component of the DVM curriculum, which includes teaching, clinical duties, and research & scholarly activity. The following qualifications are required: -DVM or equivalent degree -Diplomat status or eligibility for board certification by ACVIM, ACVS, ABVP, or ACT -Evidence of excellent clinical and communication skills -A strong commitment to meeting the needs of students and an understanding of student-centered learning -Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the State of Arizona The following qualifications are desirable but not required: -Teaching experience -MS or PhD degree in a relevant field of study -Additional advanced training Midwestern University is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides graduate and post-graduate education in the health sciences. The University has two campuses, one in Downers Grove, Illinois and the other in Glendale, Arizona. More than 6,200 full-time students are enrolled in graduate programs in osteopathic medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physician assistant studies, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nurse anesthesia, cardiovascular perfusion, podiatry, optometry, clinical psychology, speech language pathology, biomedical sciences, and veterinary medicine. Over 500 full-time faculty members and 400 staff members are dedicated to the education and development of our students in an environment that encourages learning, respect for all members of the health care team, service, interdisciplinary scholarly activity, and personal growth. The addition of veterinary medicine on the Glendale campus (fully accredited by the Council on Education in 2018) has provided an excellent opportunity to train students following the principles of One Health at Arizona’s first veterinary college.  The Animal Health Institute is comprised of the Equine and Bovine Center (EBC), The Diagnostic Pathology Center (DPC), and the Companion Animal Clinic (CAC). The EBC is a large animal teaching facility housing small herds of cattle and horses. This facility includes a clinical skills teaching laboratory hosting a variety of large animal simulators and models, arenas, and live-animal indoor and outdoor teaching and treatment areas. The EBC farm animal clinical service is comprised of a haul-in outpatient clinic and an ambulatory clinic serving the Phoenix Metropolitan area. The caseload includes small ruminants, cattle, pet pigs, and camelids. There are opportunities to do poultry if interested. The EBC is fully equipped with onsite and portable ultrasound machines, portable radiographic machines, endoscopy, laser, and other patient-side chemistry analyzers. The farm animal service is supported by other in-house services, including anesthesia, surgery, diagnostic anatomic and clinical pathology, and microbiology.  The adjacent DPC and CAC are state-of-the-art facilities. Pathology includes a 5300 sq-ft necropsy floor, gross pathology teaching theatre, fully equipped histopathology laboratory, an 800 sq-ft BSL3-capable necropsy suite, and 1200 sq ft of classroom/teaching space. The Companion Animal Clinic is a 111,000 sq. ft. modern and innovative veterinary hospital for small animals. Other Personnel :  The food animal unit has 4 full time faculty, and the EBC has a manager and 6 animal care and technical staff who work closely with clinical faculty.  
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
 Midwestern University is invested in developing clinical practices that promote principles of One Health with a focus on student learning. The food animal group includes faculty boarded in internal medicine and theriogenology, and the greater Phoenix Valley caseload is very diverse, ranging from large dairies to goat farms and hobby farms with camelids and pet pigs. This position is exclusively a Food Animal position with no equine patients 
Practice Area:  Phoenix Arizona; We have a small haul-in service and an ambulatory service; while we see cases predominantly in the greater Phoenix area, our ambulatory service covers a 100 mile radius.
