Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
The dairy portion of the practice is ambulatory, providing services to 120 regular clients with herd sizes ranging from 40 to 750 cows. Many of the dairies are new facilities constructed within the past 10 years. Clients are progressive and open to our consulting services. Range of services includes ultrasound reproductive exams, in-house blood pregnancy testing, DC305 records analysis, calf and cow facility design, calf health programs, a busy in-house milk culturing lab, parlor analysis and milk quality programs, and nutrition consulting. The practice provides full ration development and nutrition consulting to over 1/3 of the clients. Parlor analysis and consulting is performed using all of the necessary tools and equipment (Lactocorder, Vadia, Digimet, Tri-Scan) to create detailed reports for customers and is also performed for farms outside of our client base on a consulting basis. Our practice is also involved with on-farm drug treatment protocols, records review and implementing a sound VCPR with each customer. In addition to dairy farms, we also provide services to some cow-calf and fed cattle operations, a few small ruminants and limited equine work, primarily horses owned by dairy clients. The associate veterinarian will be on call two days per week and every third weekend. Emergency service is limited to current clients only and therefore we average 1 emergency call for every 2 nights you are on call over the course of the year. It is rare to have your sleep interrupted in the middle of the night! Small and large animal duties are required for all veterinarians in the practice.
Practice Area:  Ashland Ohio is located one hour north of Columbus and one hour south of Cleveland. Population 20,000 with a thriving small town community of friends and neighbors. Close enough to the big cities but far enough away. Mohican State Forest is great for outdoor activities. Very affordable cost of living and great school systems.
