For the purpose of consistent and high-quality emergency work, veterinarians are expected to generate a foundation in all large animal species. However, they are also strongly encouraged to develop an area of expertise according to their interests. On call is shared equally. In order to ensure adequate coverage, there is both a primary and backup veterinarian available.
