Job Description:
 

Objective:
 Steele Veterinary Clinic is looking to hire an associate to join our growing mixed animal practice. We are a progressive practice with an emphasis on customer service and patient care. Associate veterinarian will be expected to participate in all aspects of the mixed animal practice. While the majority of our business is based on production animal medicine (cow/calf, feedlot and back-grounding), we enjoy a growing companion animal segment of our practice. We also service two livestock auction markets. On call schedule and time at the auctions are shared equally by all five full time veterinarians. 
Training Required:
 DVM or equivalent degree, ND State license and Federal Accreditation.  
Experience Desired:
 New graduates and experienced practitioners are encouraged to apply. Any interest in bovine medicine, reproduction and surgery is a plus.  
Salary:
 Salary will depend on experience and will be above average. Mentoring will be provided to ensure the new associate meets their professional and personal goals.  
Benefits:
 In addition to a competitive salary, benefits include, NDVMA and AVMA dues, health insurance,disability insurance stipend, professional liability insurance, CE stipend, 3% matching IRA, and moving allowance. North Dakota has a student loan repayment program that must be applied for, if accepted the recipient will receive $80,000.00 over four years for student loan repayment. Fully equipped practice pick-up will be provided. Paid time off of approximately 30 days per year, outlined as follows: 11 paid vacation days 5 paid CE days 4-5 paid holidays Approximately 10 paid Fridays off following work at auction barn on Thursdays.

Environment:

Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
  Our practice features well equipped large animal haul in facilities, with an area for bovine obstetrical work, as well as a hydraulic tilt chute for processing animals and lameness examinations/foot work. The practice also has a portable tub and alley and three portable Silencer hydraulic squeeze chute for cattle work in the country. The practice currently has two portable ultrasound machines, portable digital x-ray, as well as the other equipment to perform routine production animal procedures. Equine area includes surgical stall and two hospitalization stalls. Our companion animal area, new in Fall of 2021, consists of an five exam rooms, surgical suite, treatment area and radiology suite. We also have in house blood chemistry machine, CBC machine, urinalysis machine, digital x-ray, ultrasonic dental scaler/polisher, and ultrasound machines. Other Personnel :  Five full time veterinarians: Troy Dutton (Oregon State 2000), Joseph Hochhalter (University of Minnesota 2008), Nick Hart (Kansas State 2013), Marissa Soderberg (Washington State 2022) and A'Moris Bodrick (Tuskegee University 2022). We also employ several support staff, three full time and one part time licensed veterinary technicians, three full time veterinary assistants, and five part time veterinary assistants.  
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
  Steele Veterinary Clinic was founded in 1967 with a dedication to meeting clients needs and expectations. Today we continue that tradition and continue to provide emergency services to all of our clients. For our large animal clients we provide numerous herd health services: customized herd health programs to meet our clients changing needs, pregnancy ultrasounding, herd consultation, pregnancy diagnosis via palpation, bull fertility testing, calving assistance, general surgery services, herd AI protocols and other services to meet our producers needs. For our growing small animal clients we provide a variety of services: vaccinations, exams, spaying neutering, orthopedic surgeries, dentals and other services as needed.  
Practice Area:  Steele Veterinary Clinic serves clients in Kidder, Emmons, Logan, Burleigh, Stustman, Wells, Sheridan, and McIntosh counties. Most of our clients are within a 70 mile radius of Steele, ND. We serve many progressive cattlemen, who drive us to remain on the cutting edge of production practices and technology. Steele is the county seat of Kidder county, and offers a wonderful small town atmosphere, with the benefit of activities and city life only 40 miles away in Bismarck, the state capital. Outdoor activities are plentiful in the area: boating, waterfowl hunting, hiking, deer hunting, bird watching and much more.
