Job Description:
 

Objective:
 The Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture (NCTA) in Curtis, NE, is seeking candidates for a 9-month, 100% teaching Instructor position in the Veterinary Technology department. Opportunities exist for additional summer funding through summer course instruction. The Assistant Professor will develop and teach courses within the Veterinary Technology Systems Department, working as a member of a departmental team, to educate and support students who will possess the skills necessary to pass the AVMA veterinary technician licensure exam upon graduation. Responsibilities include the development and updating of course syllabi, lesson plans, laboratory manuals, power point presentations, and course materials for both lecture and laboratory formats utilizing new technologies. This position will plan, develop, teach, and follow up with students and instructors of Vet Tech short courses, continuing education, dual credit enrollment, and online courses using Canvas LMS technology, as applicable. This position will coordinate internship visits for students; assist in the care of the veterinary technology animals and the D. Walter Long Veterinary Technology Teaching clinic to include weekend, holiday and emergency care; and will assist with academic advising, recruiting, committee assignments, student organizations, and other departmental and college activities. This position will serve as a liaison with veterinarians and technicians through association meetings, advisory meetings, and internship visits. They will attend Veterinary Technology faculty and staff meetings.  
Training Required:
 DVM Applicants must maintain Nebraska license in Veterinary Medicine by attending appropriate continuing education courses. Through in-service activities, this position must development new skills and maintain proficiency in veterinary medicine, animal health, and animal care.  
Experience Desired:
 Required Qualifications: • Possess a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited professional program in Veterinary Medicine; • Be a Nebraska licensed veterinarian or able to obtain licensure within six months of hire; • Three years of recent private practice experience in a companion animal or mixed animal clinic. Preferred Qualifications: • Two years of recent teaching experience; • Experience with small and exotic animals; • Membership in the Nebraska Veterinary Medicine Association and/or American Veterinary Medical Association; • Recruiting and fundraising experience; • Previous experience sponsoring student activities and/or clubs and organizations.

 As a college within the University of Nebraska system, NCTA faculty enjoy generous system benefits, including a tuition waiver for 15 credits per year for employees or dependents attending any system campus. NCTA faculty are eligible for promotion, with appropriate raises, through traditional academic ranks. As an institution, NCTA does not award tenure. NCTA faculty work closely with our system land grant university, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, located 3 ˝ hours to the east.

 D. Walter Long Veterinary Technology Teaching Clinic is well equipped for training. NCTA is located in rural western Nebraska, in the town of Curtis with a population of approximately 900. The town is 45 minutes south of North Platte, approximately 4 ˝ hours east of Denver and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, and 4 ˝ hours west of Omaha. 
Other Personnel :  This position will serve as a liaison with veterinarians and technicians through association meetings, advisory meetings, and internship visits. They will attend Veterinary Technology faculty and staff meetings.
