Job Description:
Objective:
|
Provide high-quality veterinary care, and contribute to surgical innovations and up-to-date management practices for elite genetic animals owned by clients and Trans Ova. Contribute to improving and performing laparoscopic techniques in various species. Serve as a member of the Veterinary Services team, working in a positive team environment for continuous improvement of herd health.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform veterinary procedures such as health checks, ultrasounds, health papers, pregnancy diagnosis, and other general veterinary procedures at various Trans Ova Facilities.
• Perform laparoscopic reproductive procedures in various species
• Monitor, update and train on the preventative medicine protocols, nutritional aspects, and overall herd health of calf, donor, and recipient programs.
• Perform miscellaneous surgeries as necessary, including Caesarian section, umbilical resection, hernia repair, etc.
• Provide on call emergency support during the work week (Monday thru Friday afternoon) in rotation with other team members.
• Consults with other members of the Professional Service team, Customer Service team, donor and recipient herdsmen, and calving herdsman.
• Review, implement and monitor serological testing and vaccination protocols of animals residing in the clinics.
• Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
• Maintains a professional image reflective of Trans Ova’s industry position.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor. |
Training Required:
|
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent.
Full current accreditation with the USDA-APHIS
Licensure in the state of Iowa or the ability to acquire a license
|
Experience Desired:
|
3-5 years of experience and interest in bovine and/or small ruminant medicine and surgery, preferred but not required.
Interest in surgery and improving surgical techniques within the company
Strong sense of connecting with people, team building and facilitating workplace satisfaction.
