Granville Veterinary Service Large Animal (GVSLA) is a 3-4 doctor, multi-species large animal ambulatory practice. We are hiring 2 full-time veterinary associates (1 FTE = 40-45 hours per week) or the equivalent part-time doctors. The diversity of our patient caseload requires doctors to be willing and able to work on all species including equine, dairy, beef, and small ruminants. All positions can be developed to allow doctors to specialize and develop expertise as desired.
GVSLA offers routine preventive medicine/well-horse services, dental, reproduction/neonate care, lameness workups, and medical management for equine clients. Our equine clients range from 1-2 backyard horses to Thoroughbred breeding facilities and large performance horse farms.
GVSLA provides care for animals on all-size farms up to 1500-cow operations with most farms having between 100-500-cows. We offer reproductive management services, sick cow care, quality milk, and calf-rearing consultation.
Small ruminant services consist of routine preventative care, reproductive support, sick animal care, and medical case management.
Beef farms in our area range from 10-250 head which are mostly cow/calf operations. Reproduction and preventive care are the bulk of work for beef clients.
The clinic offers 24-hour emergency service only to existing clients in good standing. Emergency work is shared equally between doctors.
GVSLA is a profitable, busy clinic that strives to offer high-quality care to clients and patients in our region.

Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
GVSLA is looking for doctors who desire a high-quality professional life, but also want a small-town or rural lifestyle. Ownership is looking for creative, excited professionals who are eager to be involved in improving animals’ health while supporting animal owners. Veterinary experience is desired, but new graduates are encouraged to apply. New graduates can be assured of high-level mentoring while experiencing and leading many different medical cases early in their tenure. The full-service aspect of this business can be demanding, but it provides an excellent opportunity to practice medicine on multiple species on many different-sized farms. Clients are grateful, patient, and understanding of the challenges facing large animal medicine practitioners.
Practice Area:
Practitioners work in both New York and Vermont between the Adirondack and the Green Mountains. Most of the client base is located within a 30-mile radius.
Granville is a small town situated on the Vermont border. It is centrally located between larger tourist towns of Manchester, VT, Lake George, NY and Saratoga Springs NY and has many opportunities for recreation of various types.
