The American Association of Bovine Practitioners is composed of veterinarians interested in bovine medicine. It was founded in 1965 as a "not-for-profit" organization and has grown to a membership of approximately 6000 veterinarians. Most of the members are from the United States, but we have approximately 500 Canadian members and 200 members from other countries. The United States is divided into 11 geographical districts, and Canada is divided into two districts. We are affiliated with the American Veterinary Medical Association and the World Association for Buiatrics.

Our Mission Statement:

The American Association of Bovine Practitioners is an international association of veterinarians organized to enhance the professional lives of its members through relevant continuing education that will improve the well-being of cattle and the economic success of their owners, increase awareness and promote leadership for issues critical to cattle industries, and improve opportunities for careers in bovine medicine.

Our Objectives Are:

To endeavor to do all things necessary to promote the interest, to improve the public stature, and increase the knowledge of veterinarians in the field of dairy and beef cattle practice.
To elevate standards of bovine practice.
To attract attention to the relationship between bovine practice and the public interest.
To promote understanding and good will among its members.
To cooperate with veterinary and agricultural organizations and regulatory agencies.
