We are looking for a dairy-focused postdoctoral research associate to join us in Ames, IA
- Practice ambulatory medicine for beef & dairy cattle, small ruminants, swine & camelids within a 40 mile radius of Ames, IA (referral option through ISU Large Animal Hospital when needed)
- Serve ISU Animal Teaching Units, including Dairy, Beef Teaching, Beef Nutrition, & Sheep farms
- Engage with clinical year students through the Food Animal & Camelid Field Services rotation
- Engage with underclass veterinary students & undergraduate veterinary students through labs & didactic teaching
- Actively participate in applied research
- Provide emergency on call services to ISU VFS clients after hours & weekends (rotate evenly with other postdocs & interns)
- Work towards board certification through the ABVP Dairy pathway
- Work towards MS or PhD, if so desired
Training Required:
- DVM from an AVMA-accredited veterinary college prior to start date
- State of Iowa Veterinary License or eligibility for licensure in the State of Iowa
- Valid U.S. driver’s license
Experience Desired:
- Category II veterinary accreditation under the USDA
- National Veterinary Accreditation Program or eligibility for accreditation by the USDA
- Demonstrated focus on dairy animal medicine
- Two or more years of bovine practice or related experience
