Are you a passionate and dedicated veterinarian looking to make a real difference in the agricultural industry? Do you have a strong interest in working with livestock, and helping feedlot clients improve productivity through animal health? If so, we want you to join our dynamic team!
We are seeking a motivated Large Animal Veterinarian to work primarily with feedlot clients. This role involves providing essential veterinary care to cattle in a fast-paced, high-volume feedlot environment. You will play a key role in ensuring the health and productivity of livestock through preventative care, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation with clients to improve herd management. This position provides an opportunity to practice both service and consultative medicine for progressive feedlot clientele.
Conduct routine health assessments and provide veterinary care for feedlot cattle. Diagnose, treat, and manage diseases and injuries in feedlot cattle. Develop and implement health management plans and preventive care programs. Monitor and manage the overall well-being of animals in the feedlot, including staff training, vaccinations, and disease prevention. Collaborate with feedlot managers and clients to provide recommendations for improving herd performance. Provide emergency care for injured or sick animals as needed. Conduct post-mortem examinations and assist with reporting diseases and health conditions. Keep detailed and accurate records of treatments, surgeries, and health management. Review records in feedlot management software to proactively manage health. Analyse feedlot data for health program development and to identify and solve problem areas within cattle health and management. Stay current with veterinary practices, industry trends, and regulations related to large animal health and feedlot operations. |
Training Required:
|
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent.
Active veterinary license in Alberta.
A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to feedlot locations as needed.

Experience Desired:
|
No feedlot consulting experience is required, although would be welcome.
New grads and those looking for a career shift are welcome to apply.
Prior experience working with cattle is highly preferred.
Basic knowledge of feedlot health management practices and protocols.
Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with clients and team members. |

We are located in a modern, clean facility with substantial dispensing activities that service most types of livestock producers.
Company vehicle for work-related travel, as well as laptop and mobile phone and all other required equipment will be provided. |

Our team currently consists of 5 DVMs and 2 technicians who assist with on-farm technical duties. We also have a fabulous team of friendly, dedicated support staff who are there to assist us in performing all the necessary additional tasks. |

Client and staff education and training are significant aspects of our practice. We host regular pen-checking training & processor training sessions for feedlot staff. |
