Residency Program in Livestock Herd Health and Reproduction
University of California Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital (VMTH)
The Livestock Herd Health and Reproduction (LHHR) residency is designed to develop expertise in herd health and management, reproduction, veterinary preventive medicine, epidemiology, and quantitative methods for data analysis. Caseloads include predominantly dairy cattle, beef cattle, sheep, goats, and production pigs. The residency provides opportunities to develop experiences in research, scientific writing, and review of scientific literature. Upon completion of the program, the resident will be awarded a Residency Certificate and, upon fulfilling the requirements, be awarded the MPVM degree. Residents will rotate through in-house Livestock Medicine & Surgery and share emergency duty on a rotating basis. The residency fulfills the requirements for the individual to be eligible for application for board certification in the American College of Preventative Veterinary Medicine (ACVPM). Our LHHR clinical team includes faculty with board certification in the American College of Theriogenology (ACT).

Training Required:
Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree.
Experience Desired:
One or more years of experience in practice or a large animal internship.
A valid California driver's license is required. The position will involve participating in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System. A copy of DMV record will be required as a final condition of employment.
Salary:
+ Year 1 - $52,291
+ Year 2 - $54,729
+ Year 3 - $57,256
