Training Required:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
Licensure (or ability to obtain licensure) to practice veterinary medicine in South Dakota.
Experience Desired:
Interest in or experience with large animal medicine; mixed animal experience is a plus.
Strong diagnostic, surgical, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for emergencies.

Access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities such as in house CBC and serum chemistry machines, x-ray, ultrasound, electrocautery, ultrasonic dental machine, large animal haul in facility and portable hydraulic chutes for field work.

Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
The practice currently consists of 80% large animal and 20% small animal. The large animal portion of the practice is primarily cow-calf, but also feedlot, dairy, equine, and some small ruminant.
Practice Area:
Huron Veterinary Hospital, PA has been serving the Huron area for 60 years, so it is a very well-established practice in a community of 14000+ people. Huron is perfectly located in the center of eastern South Dakota with easy access to both I-90 and I-29 including approximately 1-2 hour drive to Mitchell, Aberdeen, Watertown, Pierre, Brookings, and Sioux Falls. The area offers excellent hunting and fishing opportunities as well as 3 golf courses and a multitude of state parks for camping. Huron offers numerous types of restaurants for everyone’s tastes, 2 bowling alleys, a couple of local wineries, movie theater, and many other amenities. Huron offers a great school system with lots of opportunities for the kids to join sports or clubs, recreation/fitness centers, excellent water park, and home to the South Dakota State Fair as well as the World’s Largest Pheasant. With the addition of the Dakota Event Complex (DEX) to the South Dakota State Fair grounds, Huron is attracting more events such as concerts from Thomas Rhett, PBR rodeos, and multiple barrel races. South Dakota is home to Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills which is only a short 5-hour drive from Huron for a weekend getaway.
