Objective:

The Dairy Authority is excited to offer a unique opportunity for motivated, dairy-driven recent or soon-to-be veterinary graduates to join our Non-Traditional Dairy Internship Program — a one-year, paid, hands-on training experience designed to prepare veterinarians to practice advanced dairy medicine from day one. |

Training Required:
|
DVM or equivalent degree earned in 2025 or 2026 |
|
Experience Desired:
|
• Eligible for full veterinary licensure in Colorado
• Demonstrated interest in dairy production medicine
• Prior dairy experience (externships, clinical rotations, farm employment) preferred
• Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required
• Comfortable working on-farm and in lab-based environments

Program Overview:
The Dairy Authority is excited to offer a unique opportunity for motivated, dairy-driven recent or soon-to-be veterinary graduates to join our Non-Traditional Dairy Internship Program — a one-year, paid, hands-on training experience designed to prepare veterinarians to practice advanced dairy medicine from day one.
This program is ideal for individuals passionate about dairy production medicine, fieldwork, and diagnostics. Interns will work side-by-side with our experienced team of veterinarians and consultants on progressive dairies across the Western U.S., while also gaining behind-the-scenes access to one of the most advanced milk, feed, and diagnostic laboratories in the country.

What You’ll Gain:
• Hands-on clinical experience with herd-level diagnostics and treatment
• Daily pregnancy check and reproductive protocol design
• In-depth training in milk quality, udder health, and milking parlor evaluation
• Direct mentorship in dairy consulting and data analysis

• Rotations through milk, blood, feed, and pregnancy diagnostic labs
• A capstone consulting or research project with presentation
