The purpose of the Hunter Lang Dairy Welfare Scholarship is to provide a one-time financial award of $2000 to a 3rd or 4th year veterinary student interested in dairy practice and animal welfare. The scholarship is administered by the AABP Foundation.
The Hunter Lang Dairy Welfare Scholarship was created by the Lang family to honor the memory of Dr. Hunter Lang. Hunter graduated from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981 and resided in Prairie du Sac, Wis. He practiced veterinary medicine in the greater Sauk Prairie community for 40 years. Hunter served on the AABP Animal Welfare Committee, the AABP Board of Directors for two terms (2013-2018) and as the AABP Delegate to the AVMA House of Delegates from 2021-2025.
Award
The award will consist of a one-time cash scholarship of $2,000. The award will be presented at the AABP Annual Conference each year until such time as the endowment is exhausted. Winners need not be present at the conference to receive the award.

Student applicants are responsible for ensuring reference letters are uploaded before the listed deadline. Applicants can check the status of their applications and track the submission of required materials by logging onto the AABP website, then going to the Students Menu and selecting Scholarship/Grant Portal.
