Job Description:
 

Objective:
 Centre Herd Health Services is looking to hire a full-time veterinarian interested in ambulatory food animal medicine in Central Pennsylvania. We are a four and a half doctor practice with continual growth focusing primarily on dairy but also provide care to beef, small ruminants, and swine. Our family operated dairy farms range from herds size anywhere from 50 cows to over 1600 cows with several large-scale farms. We provide quality veterinary services to the food animal industry of Central Pennsylvania in a manner that is professional, courteous, and responsible. This service entails high quality animal care, the promotion of animal health, productivity, and welfare, and strives for the financial success of our clients. Training Required:
 DVM or equivalent and PA license 
Experience Desired:
 Experienced veterinarians or new graduates encouraged to apply. 
Salary:
 Competitive salary (base + production bonus) 
Benefits:
 We offer an excellent work schedule. Weekend and emergency duties are shared by all the veterinarians. Veterinarians work a 5-day week with every other week being a 4-day week. The compensation package includes a base salary plus a quarterly bonus based on production. A vet box and equipment, including an ultrasound, are provided. Benefits include health insurance (high quality plan), liability and disability insurance, membership in AVMA, PVMA, AABP, a retirement plan, cell phone, paid CE, and paid vacation. Veterinarians are responsible for providing a work truck and are reimbursed for mileage at the current government rate. Future ownership buy-in is possible.

Environment:

Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
 Our practice operates out of a centrally located building in Centre Hall that has an office area, conference room, pharmacy, and in-house lab for fecal analysis, milk culturing, diagnostic IDEXX chemistry, and blood pregnancy testing. Veterinarians are provided with a vet box and all necessary equipment, including an ultrasound. Veterinarians are responsible for their work truck. 
Other Personnel :  Currently 4 full- time veterinarians and one part-time veterinarian are employed. One trained veterinary assistant performs on-farm dehorning. Office staff includes one manager and two part-time receptionists. 
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
 We currently do an extensive amount of work with embryo transfers, breeding soundness exams, calf health and sanitation audits, and are a part of a few farm business teams. Our practice provides a supportive environment for veterinarians. Collaboration amongst the veterinarians on cases, sharing treatment ideas, and working as a team are strong features of our practice. The practice also provides an environment that encourages each veterinarian to pursue a particular veterinary interest and develop it into a service. We also have up-to-date veterinary practice management software that can be accessed on-farm for billing services.  
Practice Area:  Our clients are primarily in Centre, Clinton, Mifflin, Huntingdon, Union, and parts of Lycoming County. The practice area is in the beautiful mountains and valleys of Central Pennsylvania that also includes Penn State University. The university provides the diagnostic lab, extension networking, and NCAA sporting events. There are also excellent fly fishing and hiking trails in the area.
