Objective:
 Our Technical Service Managers interact face to face with our customers, understand their needs and consult to offer the right solutions. We work collaboratively with our territory sales representatives and play a critical role in supporting our customer centric business model. This field-based position is responsible for providing technical support to sales and marketing for Merck Animal Health products specific to the US Cattle business. Responsibilities include providing technical support for cattle products and programs, including response to product inquiries and adverse reports in accordance with internal, FDA, CFIA and USDA regulatory policies. The position will require developing research trial protocols, trial monitoring, and summarizing clinical and marketing support trials specific to beef cattle health. Position will be required to maintain contact with key industry professionals to include academic and veterinary-related individuals or groups. Additional duties will include attending and presenting in prominent industry scientific meetings. Specific Responsibilities ● Work collaboratively with Merck Animal Health cattle territory sales representatives to deliver high-quality, research-supported technical and practical information to a variety of customer segments, including veterinarians, cow/calf, feedlot, and stocker operators, academic professionals, and distributor partners. ● Involvement in the development of new products, development of vaccination programs and protocol for use of pharmaceuticals, product use directions, adverse event reporting, dealing with cattle health issues in customer operations, customer complaints and education on new products. ● Participate as a scientific speaker on the agenda of key beef cattle industry events where needed by communicating non-proprietary company research and representing Merck Animal Health as a source of highly valuable technical expertise, with a primary focus on the beef industry. ● Assist research and development team with product evaluation, licensing trials, and product development. Perform field trial evaluation of newly licensed products to offer technical support information for those products. ● Work with marketing team on key business initiatives to aid in development of technical and marketing brochures for Merck Animal Health products. ● Act as a liaison between Merck Animal Health and prominent researchers in university, government, and private settings to supply a stream of information regarding innovative products and developments. ● Provide sales force training as well as guidance on product implementation for external customers. ● Travel will compose at a minimum 50% of incumbent’s time. Travel responsibilities will be prioritized by value of customer and return of travel investment. Position Qualifications Education Minimum Requirement: ● Must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M) degree. Required Experience and Skills: ● Must have minimum of 5 years cattle veterinary and/or animal science experience. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ● Public speaking in front of both small and large groups. ● Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated skills in building relationships with clients, customers, and key opinion leaders. ● Ability to work in a team environment. ● Demonstrated leadership skills. ● Ability to digest extremely technical information and present it in understandable terms to lay people. Preferred Experience and Skills: ● Field experience in cattle production and medicine. ● Experience and skills in designing and conducting research experiments. ● Veterinary license in at least one state. ● An advanced degree (MS, PhD) in an animal science or veterinary medicine-related field (i.e. veterinary sciences, epidemiology, immunology, ruminant nutrition, physiology of reproduction, etc). -Successful candidate is expected to live or relocate to western Dakotas, Montana, or Wyoming. Ideally, the successful candidate would live near Rapid City, SD, Gillette or Sheridan, WY, or Billings, MT. Relocation assistance will be provided to those outside of this geography.  
Training Required:
 DVM or equivalent degree 
Experience Desired:
 5 years experience in cattle veterinary medicine

Other Personnel :  Will collaborate with a team of approximately 25 bovine veterinarians, nutritionists, and reproductive physiologists in addition to access to numerous other animal health professionals.

 Biologicals, anti-infectives, repro hormones, dewormers, growth-promoting implants, technology solutions. Focus on research.
