Objective:
|
The Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term, Assistant Professor (Clinical) position in our Theriogenology and Rural Veterinary Practice (RVP).
The purpose of this position is to provide clinical service and training in evidence-based medicine, to educate students and society, to foster critical thinking, to generate original medical and educational information, to contribute to the operations of the Department, VTH, College and University, to maintain and enhance a collaborative and inclusive community and to advance professional veterinary students’, house officers’ and graduate students’ knowledge and skills through research, mentorship and instruction in the Department of Clinical Sciences and the VTH.

Training Required:
|
The ideal candidate is a veterinarian (DVM or equivalent degree) with at least 3 years of clinical experience in veterinary theriogenology, including during residency training, Diplomate of American College of Theriogenologists (ACT) or the European College of Animal Reproduction (ECAR), or qualified to sit for the ACT or ECAR certifying exam |
Experience Desired:

Clinical experience with ruminant herd health and large animal primary care.
Evidence of classroom/clinical teaching experience.
Demonstrated commitment to educational equity in a multicultural setting and a commitment to advancing the participation of diverse groups and supporting diverse perspectives.
Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to engage respectfully with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences

Theriogenology and clinical work is primarily on-farm but some cases (mostly outpatient) may be received at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). The VTH employs the largest team of board-certified veterinary specialists in Oregon; these clinicians are available for consultation, referral and collaborative care. Afterhours duty is shared among clinicians. |

The applicant will work as part of the Oregon State University Theriogenology and Rural Veterinary Practice (RVP) Service. The RVP service vision is to commit to developing and maintaining competence and compassion in the service and its students through excellence in education, preventive, and primary care for the livestock and horse community.
