Facilities provided by the veterinary practice:
|
Each veterinarian is provided with their own truck and fully-stocked vet box and ultrasound unit. We are an almost exclusively ambulatory clinic, with the exception of occasional hauled-in small ruminant work. We run an in-house lab for milk cultures and other simple diagnostics. Shared equipment includes two haulable chutes, Breeding Soundness Exam equipment kits (cattle and small ruminant) and small ruminant laparoscopic AI/ET equipment.
We have a bedroom and bathroom in-house for visiting students/externs. Clinic washing machine available for coveralls. Shared office space and computers in the clinic with DairyComp305. |
Other Personnel : |
We employ 2-3 client service representatives who coordinate scheduling and client communication, as well as maintain clinic inventory. Veterinarians and office staff are supportive of each other to all maintain their own work-life balance and help accommodate each other’s family schedules and needs. We easily swap our on-call schedules to accommodate for personal scheduling and vacation time. Standing weekly meetings ensure face-to-face time with vets and allows for sharing of ideas and updating each other on cases. The diversity of our work benefits from open communication between veterinarians to grow and advance our individual skill sets. |
Practice strengths and emphasis of the business:
|
Cashton Veterinary Clinic started in 1947 to “serve area farmers and their animals” and continues to be a thriving privately owned practice. We have a uniquely diverse area with a wide variety of clients, which allows our work to be steady throughout the year with seasonal shifts in the type of work we do. Most of our clients are within a 30 mile radius. In all the areas we work, there is demand for more of our time and expanded services offered. We are confident that adding another veterinarian will allow us to serve more thoroughly our existing practice area without an increase in practice radius. Our clients range from large to small conventional dairies, organic dairies, production and hobby beef farms, Amish livestock (horses, cattle, small ruminants), and everything in between.
Year round our mornings are focused on dairy herd-healths, with ample opportunity to provide quality preventative care for our progressive herds, and provide management level guidance and sick animal care for dairies of all sizes. In the fall our afternoons are busy with beef work - preg checking cows, processing calves, and protocol development. In the winter we spend more time with our dairies managing the demands of transition cows. Spring is full of calvings, lambings, kiddings, and foalings and performing BSE’s for our beef herds as they get ready for breeding season. Summer is busy with equine reproduction and serves as a great time for connecting with our companion livestock clients. Our equine work is growing and there is ample opportunity to expand services offered.

Practice Area: |
Cashton is a strong community with tremendous support and prioritization of agriculture. Between Cashton and its neighboring towns, we have several options for restaurants, outdoor music, coffee shops, and cheese curds. This is a great place to find satisfaction in your work and your life.
Our practice area is located in the beautiful hills of Southwest Wisconsin, bordering the Mississippi River and in a landscape characterized by steep hills, forested ridges, and deeply carved river valleys. The area’s unique topography has exceptional opportunities for outdoor recreation (hunting, fishing, canoeing/kayaking), as well as great access to enjoy year-round well-maintained State and County parks filled with trails for biking, hiking, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing.
We are 40 minutes southeast of La Crosse and 2 hours west of Madison. |
