Provide consultation and advice on animal welfare and production management to customers throughout the Northwest region. Consult with customers, organizations, and other veterinary specialists on developing effective protocols for herd management. Participate in management meetings to educate and advise personnel on performing routine procedures. May develop instructional guides on how to treat common problems that arise. Monitor the health of animals and study the effectiveness of medications, vaccinations, feeding programs, etc. Investigates unusual problems such as feed contamination or unusually high condemnation rates. Ensures compliance with federal and state agencies where applicable.
Training Required:
Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent
Certificates: Graduate from School of Veterinary Medicine
Licenses: Licensed by Board of Veterinary Medicine State of Idaho
Registrations: Idaho Board of Pharmacy FDA controlled substance registration
Experience Desired:
3-5 plus years related experience and/or training. Extensive knowledge of beef and dairy cattle is required; and knowledge of state and federal regulations as they apply to the beef cattle industry.
