The Animal Clinic of Monett (ACM) has delivered primary veterinary services at the Joplin Regional Stockyards in Carthage, MO (JRS) for over 30 years, led by Dr. Ted Dahlstrom and supported by several other ACM doctors. As Dr. Dahlstrom approaches retirement, ACM is seeking to collaborate with the next generation of veterinarians to ensure a smooth transition during this period.
This position will average 28-32 hours per week.
•Chute-side processing = 24-26 hr/wk (appr)
•Customer consultation, business/inventory collaboration with ACM/HVP = 4-6 hr/wk (appr)
The schedule is highly variable and market-driven, depending on weekly stockyard activity and sale timing. The bulk of the work typically occurs Monday through Wednesdays, though actual hours may shift week to week. Long days (up to 12–14 hours) are not uncommon during special sales or high-volume weeks. Flexibility and adaptability are essential in this role.
Outside of clinical duties, there is an expectation to provide light consultative support, including product oversight and inventory management. These responsibilities are flexible in timing, with the understanding that during high-volume weeks or extended workdays, they may be deferred or adjusted accordingly.
We value efficiency and autonomy. There is no requirement to “make up” hours in slower weeks, and we recognize that the nature of this work often requires uneven time commitments across a given month.
Communication and responsiveness are important in this dynamic environment. Our DVMs should be comfortable with occasional short-notice updates to the weekly schedule and maintain open lines of communication with the team.
