Objective:
|
The Texas Tech University School (TTU) School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) is seeking a Postdoctoral Food Animal Medicine and Surgery Associate beginning July 1, 2026. The position emphasizes training in food animal medicine, although a large portion of the training is bovine related (caseload is primarily beef cattle but dairy experiences are available). The selected candidate will gain production medicine-based clinical experience and may participate in applied research activities.. This post-doctoral research and clinical training program is designed to mentor aspiring food animal educators, equipping them with the expertise to influence veterinary students and serve as vital resources in rural communities. Post-doctoral associates will gain advanced training in livestock health, antimicrobial stewardship, and One Health leadership, while obtaining a MS or PhD in OneHealth. Successful residents will be eligible to sit for ABVP-Beef Cattle Boards upon completion of residency. The caseload is primarily beef cattle.
This position is a unique opportunity to gain specialty training in Beef Cattle Medicine and Surgery in practice, while obtaining advanced training in research and andragogical learning. This is the first year this position will be offered. The successful candidate will divide their time between clinical practice, obtaining an MS or PhD in One Health Sciences, and developing andragogical knowledge through advanced training and interactions with students both in the classroom and in the clinical skills laboratories. Additionally, opportunities will exist to gain experience in the realm of communication and continuing education sectors of academic medicine.
TTUSVM (TTU SVM) through a cooperative partnership with Hereford Veterinary Clinic provides a core food animal rotation for students. Annually, approximately 40 students rotate through the clinic on a 4-week basis. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the instructional delivery team that works with students on a daily basis and provides primary and tertiary care to food animal patients that are presented to the service.

Training Required:
|
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.). State of Texas Veterinary License or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas. This position requires eligibility to drive TTU vehicles, including a valid U.S. driver license and two years of driving experience. |

Experience Desired:
|
Graduation from an AVMA-accredited veterinary college by June 15, 2025
Category II veterinary accreditation under the USDA National Veterinary Accreditation Program, or eligibility for accreditation by the USDA
Demonstrated focus on food animal medicine |
