Objective:
|
Large Animal Veterinary internship: Established in 2009, Countryside Large Animal Internship program offers a unique and rewarding opportunity to new graduate veterinarians. As a full-service hospital, interns will experience all aspects of a hospital, surgery, and ambulatory veterinary practice. Along with the equine case load a unique aspect of our clinic is the great amount of production animal experience including cattle, swine, goats, sheep, and camelid patients. We strive to create an environment that allows the intern the opportunity to work with a variety of large animals to gain the experience and the skill set to have a successful career in equine and/ or large animal practice. Our practice is primarily equine however there is ample opportunity and freedom to focus on food animals. Multiple interns have gone directly on to complete a surgical residency (4) and one has gone on to a theriogenology residency. The majority of our cattle work is cow/calf, seedstock producers and show cattle. As a clinic we do 4000+ breeding soundness exams a year. We do a variety of small ruminant work and have a large number show pig clients. Our equine work is mainly upperlevel western performance horses lameness and sports medicine, our equine caseload is approximately: 55% lameness, 15% surgery, 15% medical, 5% reproduction, 5% rehab, and 5% farrier work. |

Completion of DVM (or equivalent) degree, successful completion of NAVLE, letter of intent, resume/CV, three letters of reference, ability to obtain Colorado license |

Fully stocked vet truck, Twenty eight stall barn (equine and cattle), large treatment area, three stall intensive care unit, surgery suite, farrier room, equine repro area with stocks, breeding dummy, standing surgery room, food animal surgery room, small ruminant/neonatal intensive care unit, portable hydraulic chute and a tilt table. Digital radiography and ultrasonography, endoscopy, gastroscopy, arthroscopy, full soft tissue and orthopedic surgical capabilities, shockwave therapy, regenerative medicine, dentistry, several routine and elective surgeries (equine, cattle, swine, and small ruminants), and routine heath appointments. Rehabilitation and conditioning facility with an underwater treadmill. |
