Objective:
|
The Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (ISU VDL)in the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic and Production Animal Medicine (VDPAM) at Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine (ISU CVM) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. Emphasis of this position will be veterinary toxicology (primarily food animal) with exposure to other animal species. The primary roles of this position are to provide high-quality diagnostic coordination of toxicology and nutrition-based cases, conduct applied research, and to assist in the instruction of veterinary students within the ISU CVM core curriculum and the department’s professional program. Responsibilities also include communication with laboratory clientele and performance of field investigations. This position will allow the individual to pursue board certification as a veterinary toxicology Diplomate with the American Board of Veterinary Toxicology (ABVT) and/or a graduate degree (MS or PhD). Training Required:
|
-Graduation from an AVMA accredited veterinary college by June 15, 2022.
-Veterinary licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Iowa.
-Experienced and knowledgeable with food animal agriculture and medicine.
-Have and maintain a valid U.S. state driver’s license and be authorized to drive University vehicles on or before the first day of employment. |

We have 2 full time faculty members within the analytical chemistry services unit as well as 31 other faculty members within the ISU VDL. Our department has 55 faculty members in all areas of production animal medicine, ranging from clinical medicine, preventative medicine, epidemiology, clinical pharmacology, to diagnostic medicine. |

The ISU VDL is a full service veterinary diagnostic laboratory within the ISU CVM that provides diagnostic services to producers and pet owners across all species with an emphasis on food animal medicine. We have a wide array of testing capabilities and specialists in the fields of pathology, toxicology, virology, bacteriology, and molecular biology. |
| Practice Area: |
The vast majority of work will be done at the ISU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. Intermittent field investigations to assist practitioners and producers/owners may occur that may require travel outside of the Ames, IA region. |
